Mark Kokes
CHIEF IP OFFICER AT NANTWORKS
Dr. Mark Kokes is the Chief Intellectual Property Officer of Nantworks and the Nant family of companies, a large healthcare conglomerate based in Los Angeles, CA. In this role Dr. Kokes is responsible for the development, prosecution, enforcement, licensing and monetization of the large aggregate Nant patent and technology portfolio.
Dr. Kokes is a 15 year veteran of the mobile industry. Dr. Kokes was previously entrusted with the monetization of the BlackBerry patent portfolio. Kokes joined Blackberry in mid-2014 and quickly established and launched Blackberry’s IP monetization, divestiture and IP venturing programs, building a high‐performing, world‐class licensing organization.
Prior to Blackberry, Dr. Kokes held the position of Vice President of Corporate Development and Intellectual Property Licensing at Intertrust where he led all North American and European IP licensing and Corporate Development activities. Dr. Kokes was both an advisor and member of the management team of five Intertrust portfolio companies.
Before joining Intertrust, Dr. Kokes held a series of senior engineering, corporate strategy and IP related positions at Nokia Research Center, Sony Ericsson’s Corporate Technology Office and HTC’s Corporate Strategy Group. Dr. Kokes is an inventor on six issued US and international patents, has co-authored several additional international patent applications and has published over twenty academic articles on various research topics.
Dr. Kokes holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Southern Methodist University (2002) and a M.S. (1997) and B.S. (1995, Summa Cum Laude) in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University.
